Being a mentor in the City Without Walls ArtReach Program allowed me the opportunity to exhibit my photographs with the photographs my student produced in the program.  The student  wanted to develop work based around the concept of time. As she was creating this work, I began my own personal journey in time and developed images from 35mm negatives that I had taken when I was her age.   By rerouting the traditional space that time has created between our 18 year old selves, we will be meeting each other at the same age on the walls at the below exhibition:

A Great Night at Newark Print Club 5/1/13

We had a great night at Newark Print CLub on 5/1/13.  I gave a short lecture about the history of cyanotypes, followed by a workshop showing how to make them.  Stephen McKenzie had donated a UV Light Box to the Newark Print CLub, and we were all able to experiment in making cyanotypes with the pre-treated paper I had brought.  Thanks to Lisa Conrad for hosting the event, and Jackie Cruz for photographing.  If you are interested in Newark Print Club, it is located at 585 Broad St. Newark, NJ.  Open to the public on Wednesday nights, with a suggested $10 donation for materials. See more pictures from the workshop via facebook.

We have a homemade exposure unit in the house courtesy of Stephen McKenzie! Our first adventure with this new equipment is an exploration of cyanotypes, a photographic printing process that gives a cyan-blue print, referred to as blueprints. Come out to Print Club next Wednesday and learn all about Cyanotypes with local artist Colleen Gutwein. She will be sharing some of her recent work and then giving a demonstration of the process. Afterwards, there will be prepared paper for participants to explore the process. Please bring transparencies, large photographic negatives, and/or plant material to use as stencils for creating imagery.

Currently I am working to obtain funding to spend 6 months traveling and documenting all aspects of daily life across the entire Kingdom of Cambodia. The final images will be printed in a book as a  visual map of contemporary Cambodia by region.
